Anthrax chart road to Grammy nomination
Anthrax have released a video marking their journey between near-collapse in 2009 to being shortlisted for a Grammy in 2013.
The thrash icons looked to have reached the end of the road after sacking singer Dan Nelson and abandoning Worship Music, the album they’d recorded with him.
But things took a turn for the better when Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich suggested the Big 4 shows starring the two bands plus Slayer and Megadeth.
When classic-era singer Joey Belladonna finally returned and Worship Music was released with new vocals to great acclaim, that would have been a happy enough ending.
But late last year it was announced their track I’m Alive was in the running for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance at the Grammys – leading drummer Charlie Benante to admit he’d almost given up all hope of being nominated ever again.
The nearest thing to a thrash metal fairy story is charted in the video below.
The 55th annual Grammy Awards ceremony takes place in Los Angeles on February 10.
