Slang is grossly a underrated album. Its ambient, powerful, and an album the had to be released. It was more of a reflection of the bands personal feelings about life at the time than trying to stay with the times.
X has 1 great song : “Scar” is a throwback to the Pyromania sound and you can hear echos of Steve Clark in the riff. This album was a mistake.
Sparkle Lounge is a welcome album but the track order kills the momentum. “Go” is a kick ass opener but you cant follow that with a country song and expect to keep anyones attention. “Come Undone” should have followed “Go” and should have been the first single.

The 2011 release should continue in the direction of Sparkle Lounge. More songs like “Go”, “Come Undone”, Cruise Control”, and “Gotta Let It Go”. Make the album a little longer, a little more raw, and stay away from the loudness war in the mastering process thats ruining the dynamic range that Def leppard is known for in their production.

For what they’ve been through would’ve killed off most other bands let alone still record several albums. Despite being my favourite band; I do feel like they had the wind knocked out of them after adrenalize as if it was all a bit too much after what had happened previous. But they have ploughed through, stayed positive and produced great sounding music to the point where they’ve headlined one of the uk’s biggest music festivals at download this year – now that’s a success story for 30 years worth of hard work! well done lads!

Adrenalize is an incredible album, on nothing but music- not influence ect. it is better then Pyro for me. Up there with Hysteria, is actually one of my favourite albums. I just ran my parents tape out when I found it. Was great to download it and hear it all again. Tonight is a great song, along with Steves tribute White Lightning

Ok, since Steve Clark’s death Def Leppard are NOT the same band..he WAS the soul of that band…ok? Now, I agree that the first four albums are the “classic” Leppard..however, all the albums after that hold their own…yes, I like ALL the Leppard albums..even Slang and oh yes, X..I think it is rather neat how Def Leppard makes each album kind of differnet and they don’t ‘cookie cut” one album to sound like a previous one..jBut that is Def Leppard…the greatest rock band E-V-E-R!!!! thanks boys!

For me I love the On Through the Night album. Answer to the Master is class. Unfortunately the band despise this one because its got balls unlike so many of the modern era ballad albums. Maiden are the master class in performing hidden gems unlike the Leps who stick with the same olde hits. A pity as Gods Of War, Foolin, Run Riot, Billy’s Got a Gun and the whole of the debut would be suppose a Rock’s out of the ?

Good job we all have our own opinions so I am nailing my colours to the mast in support of Leppards post Hysteria output. Here’s how I see it. Adrenalize was a game of two halves and Euphoria was largely pants (a failed attempt to re-create Hysteria). But I love Slang, X and Sparkle Lounge. I’ve heard it said that Slang was band-wagon jumping. That may or not be true but the result was different and refreshing (they had reached the end of the road on the Hysteria type of record and needed to do something new). For me Sparkle Lounge was a spectacular bringing together of many different facets of the bands career in what is, for me, probably the most satisfying of ALL the Leppard albums. Classic Rock were right to give X and Sparkle Lounge great reviews. I for one am glad that Leppard have dared to venture out of their comfort zone and, whether the result is fine or folly, long may they continue to do so!

Why do Lepp fans hate everything after Hysteria? Adrenalize and Sparkle Lounge are great albums. Euphoria has it’s moments as does Retro Active. Definitely not four albums to avoid!!

As lifelong fan, I think Slang is an underrated album. Sure, i was not a fan of it a first, but after a few months of listening and soaking it in, it’s become one of my faves in the Lep catalogue.

X, while alright, is too much of a “touchy,feely” effort.

I will always have the utmost respect for this band for how they stuck w/ rick after the accident. that shows you what kind of people they are.

but i still remember hearing pyromania and being severly disappointed in the direction they took.

i liked them best when they were young, drunk and pissed off.
